should be ok cos all of the water is from the main tank. even last nite i also replaced ard 50% from the main tank to the hospital.
i think all the medics here have exhausted all their knowlegde liao... very little replies from them already... hehe i think if you wanna play safe, every month change one pack should be ok. |

the first one had a bit of relapse, found the scales opening up near the tail region
the second and third one are in good shape, protuding scales have gone down by quite alot but still can see the 'burnt' marks. anyway, all have been transferred back to the hospital tank which i set up ard 5 plus this evening. |

Hi Vil,
I guess so long as you don't overdose on the anti-chlorine it is quite safe. I haven't had any problem with AC & anti-chlorine being used together. No visible way to tell if AC has been exhausted. If you've been using it to remove medication or toxins, then it should be replaced more frequently. If using AC for age water tank, I'd change it every 3-4 weeks. With such scale injuries, I guess you'll have to give it time to heal. You can add some salt to 0.1-0.3% to reduce osmotic stress. Raise temp & add Melafix as some have already mentioned. Don't over feed during this period so as not to foul up water. Wait & hope for the best. Aros are hardy fish, it'll probably heal. |

Vetduck,
Thanks What I am doing now is that i left the AC inside the fresh water in the 'storage tank (3/5 filled 3ft tank) for a couple of hours first, direct a powerhead to 'blow' towards it, at the same time, i have another powerhead to create a vigourous flow of bubbled current. after that i took out the AC, added antichlorine/amine, aerated the water for 30 mins or so... then slowly introduce into my main tank. you think its fine? This morning i woke up to find the water cloudly again, has it got something to do with the yellow powder? |
