But the mouth portion is kind of short for a L96, thou the orange fins fits a L96 perfectly.

Looks like a "golden eye" rather than a black eye.
From what i know, there is short and long or if u like elongated structure of L-sp. If the body is more elongated, the mouth portion is more prolong. I believe you have seen in person bro lizardking L96. For L96, the top dosal and tail fin is like rusty orange colour as what you see from the attachment here. There is a high chance as what bro Gecko mentioned, if u are sharp enough, you can get a L96 juvenile from a L160 shipment. I have spotted one myself and overtime as the fish grows the colour change not only the colour of the dorsal and tail fin, the body tone colour will change as well.

I get what you mean by the eye, mine is black eye. Not too sure about the golden eye, maybe ask bro Gecko to post some pics here for further discussion.

comparing the head colour of GKO's pleco against Gecko's L96, seems that Gecko's pleco is more orangy golden as compared to GKO's.
Moreover, the body colour of GKO's pleco seems abit too dark for a L96. For dorsal and pectoral fins seems not orangy enough too.

so is GKO's pleco a confirm L96 where it has not reach its full potential for the expected colouration of a L96 or perhaps it's a L160 var from different waters?

I have a piece that looks very similar to GKO's but i still cannot convince myself that mine is a
L96 as i have seen a so called 'true' L160 where all the fins of the fish is orangy in colour as well as the head portion.

Any bros here, care to help with my I.D.
1st time asking for assurance here.

Bought them as L186.
However, the black body reminds me of L320.
Anyone who can cfm of the L-number????

Maybe those pseudas lovers, can give me a thought.
Thanks
