remember not to feed your goldfish floating food. long term feeding with floating food will give them a high risk of incurable swimbladder diseases. goldfisha re unable to dispel air like other fish. give them sinking food. water quality must be tip top or you will start seeing blood streaks on its tail.
periodically mixed some spirulina to their food. |

Pellets whether floating or sinking are not that bad, in fact they are required for a balance diet and enhance headgrowth. If you are not overfeeding your fish with it, then it shouldn't be a problem. To avoid SBP (swim bladder problems, like floating, gas bubbles, gasping at the surface etc..) just pre-soak the pellets for 5-10 mins before each feeding, it's better to let the food adsorb some water first and not ingested dry. This way you can minimize constipation. Feeding small quantities several times a day is preferred rather twice per day with large qty of food. SBD can also come from having high Nitrate too (above 40ppm) and not just from overfeeding of pellet food.
