Default Importing FH into SG

doc - if this is not appropriate, pls move it or remove it. thanks.

posted this as a reply to "where to buy kamfa" thread but not sure if many will see it, so thought it would be better to share it in a thread by itself.

it is for those interested in buying from AB and wondering how the fish can be shipped to sg.

if you wanna buy from AB, you can send email to seller to check whether he can ship to sg. if he say that he has transhipper like mainland, yunfeng, or sincere aquatic, what he means is that he will bundle your fish together with another main fish dealer/seller in thailand that usually sells fishes to this lfs/transhippers. so you got to ask them when is the shipment date cos this seller has to wait for the main dealer/seller next shipment to sg.

then you can call mainland/etc to confirm whether they are expecting any shipment from thailand on that date. if yes then you can go there and collect your fish which will be in a small plastic bag with your name and contact no. written on it. ( the transhipper should call you when it is there but mainland did not..i had to call to check whether it was there). you pay a service fees to collect the fish. for mainland, it is sg15 per fish and for sincere aquatic i think it is sg12-15 too.

hope this helps.

Thanks bro Reddi for the info.

I checked further with YunFeng on this and the charges may not be as straight forward. When I bring in Betta, its usually a fixed price (around $10, even for a giant) because the water quantity and weight is quite standard, moreover the transhipper usually packs it optimally with their regular shipment which comes in standard-size styro boxes with estimate-able charges as long as the weight is not exceeded.

For FH, it depends on the size of the fish and packing (volume and weight) by the AB seller in order to know how it would fit in their regular boxes.

In a nutshell, before bidding, its best to check with the local transhipper, to get in touch with the seller and obtain a estimate of the total shipping charges beforehand. From my impression, it might potentially cost close to SGD80 even for regular 4-5" FH (just a ref, don't quote me!), as you'll need a reasonable volume of water.

yes..it would be best to check with the actual transhipper on the exact service fees they charge. somehow mainland just say sg15 per fish without quantifying the size of the fish. other transhipper may charge differently.
