Default Working towards a more beautiful tank...

Here's my 3fts tank.

I wish to get plants to beautify my tank & also to cover my filters tubing but the plants dun last. My last purchase all dead & removed liao.

Info :
* My tank is 3fts long.
* Only keep goldfishes and 胭脂虎
* Filter is canister & overhead.

I will go purchase fine gravel around 3inch high for future planting. Okay, how to get my market purchase plants to stay alive in my tank? Please note that I'm not into serious planting which needs CO2 tank. I just need to inhert basic planting knowledge to get my plants alive. Many thanks...

btw, this is the only plant surviving in my tank now [26 May 2009]

Ok I'm not an expert at this but I find your lighting to be too dim somehow... perhapsyou need to change your lighting... als it would be nice to put soe backing Oyama oir something. Personally I'm not a fan of blue backgrounds so perhaps black oyama backing and brighter white light not the pinkish coloured types... Also in the front and probably sides also, tape a layer of maybe2 inch border of oyama around the top. So you won't get the glaring light shining through the portionsof the glass above the water level.

Oyama and lighting, colour and brightness should make the whole tank look much nicer. Beyond that, goldfish are not really plant friendly so you might ewant to test around with the more hardy plants like Nanas or something... Nanas do not need to be planted into soil so no plant substrate needed, just tie to some nice driftwood... to brighten up the tank, maybe you would also like to consider light coloured fine river sand as opposed to pebbles.

I would also suggest removing the fishing baits and other fake ornaments.

Ok seems like too much suggestions already...

Hope at least some are helpful.

Check out these guys.

They have a goldfish scape that looks very nice. Maybe you can get some inspiration.

Thanks for the link. The goldfish setup is indeed very nice. Just wondering where to get the big stones? Thanks.
