2x1x1.5 suitable for marine?
Hi Fellow friends !
Have been a arofanatics member for years, but left the scene for a long time due to work commitment as well. Gave up all aquarium hobbies , but I have decided to start a Marine Tank ! As I am restricted by my OC, I have no choice but to have a small tank for this marine setup. All the pros and experts, is a 2x1x1.5 suitable ? I am intending to run it with a sump. Will not have too much reefs inside (mabbie 1 or 2 hardy ones), but will have fishes and LR. For such a tank setup, are there ready-made ones available ? Any recommendations ? Have also seen the RSM130, seems pretty impressive to have everything ready, but pricing is extremely high. Would definitely appreciate discussions and comments |

Hi Bro, welcome to marine.
Any size is possible so long you are diligent in the maintenance. As you should know from your previous experience, small tank is subjected to larger water parameter fluctuations, eg. temp. Marine will have the salinity fluctuations too due to evaporation if you are using fan to cool the water. Chiller is recommended if keeping corals. Not a must for FOWLR. Frequent water change is the key.. I would say, skimmer is a must. So far not many ready made marine tanks, except for RedSea RSM version or JBJ tanks. But you will be limited by the equipments if you want to upgrade in future. |

You can consider Ocean Free Nano Space or Dymax IQ5, google online and you can see what amazing things can be done with such a small tank.
Of cause like what bro limsc said, you've to be diligent in changing water every other or alternate days, depending on the tank size a 20-30% water change is good enough. I DIYed my "Nano Skimmer" not a difficult thing to do, I can teach you if you want or can do what I did, go YouTube and search for DIY nano skimmer. Of course if you don't have a budget and your Nano tank can fit a skimmer that's commercially available I would advise you to buy 1 instead. |

Thanks bro for your response
Am in the midst for unting for a right tank . Am actually looking at 1.5ft cube tank or 2x1x1.5. Or 2x1.5x1.5 ... Brand new tanksets seems rather expensive! so, sourcing around for used 1. Am actually very interested in the jbj or rsm too! Looking forward to marine!! |
