How to prepare hatch BBS(Baby Brine Shrimp) from eggs
Hi there, although there are many links on the web to teach us how to hatch BBS from eggs, here is a lazy man way with no measurement needed and it works for me
1) You need a 1.5L soda water bottle (I used Pokka green tea bottle as the bottle is harder)with the base removed. 2) add in around 3 teaspoons of salt or fill salt to around the cap area (I used normal cooking salt that I got from the supermarket, $0.20 each pack) 3) Add in tap water (no anti-chlorine added for me because I seldom used that for my fish, if you feel that you need to add, just add in) 4) Add in the BBS eggs 5) Cover the top if you don't want salt water to splash out when you bubble the solution. Start with low "power" bubbling to allow most of the eggs to be soaked in water (6) Increase the bubbling "power" till you see that there are no dead zone, that is there is no eggs settle at a location Here is a video of the bubbling "power" to show you roughly how it should look like

After 20-24 hours
(7) Turn off the air supply and let the bbs and eggs to settle wait... wait.. and wait.. and wait... around 10 mins later most of the bbs should have settle down.. (8) this is how I harvest the BBS. Siphon out the BBS with airline tube into the coffee filter. |

Thanks for the instructional post and it dispels the stories of some who mentioned they are having difficulty hatching the BBS. We will find this very useful for our needs.

For me, the use of air stone will result in some bbs eggs being stuck right at the bottom and the air from the air stone will not be powerful enough to propel them up from the bottom. Putting an air tube with its tip right at the bottom and turning up the aeration to a level will ensure the eggs do not get stuck there.

I've read somewhere that using airstone is not advicable, so from start I never use airstone.

This is exactly how we can begin to bring the joy of fish keeping forward. Having everyone share their experience and simplify the hobby for beginners. I'm sure that this will help out many ppl including myself. Thanks for this bro. Cheers.
