Default Advice on Return Pump

Dear All ,
need an advice here on return pump. I calculated the height from Sump tank to top of main tank to be 4 ft .Main tank is 2.5 ft by 18 inch by 18 inch , sump tank 2ft by 15 inch by 16 inch . Tested following return pump

1) Atman 105 3000l/h , max head 3m , 60W .output flow quite strong enough to create a current.

2) Atman 104 2000l/h , max head 2m , 35 W , outflow barely noticable, little or no current.

My qns is 1) If I were to get say, a PH of 3000l/h , but 35W , Max head 2.4 m , is the outflow going to be just as good as atman 105?
2)Is the max head delivery the ultimate factor that decides the strength of outflow?
3) I am thinking of getting a stronger return pump to tee off to return , chiller, and if possible weipro 2011. Which brand would you guys recommend and the flowrate?

Question 1: Yes it would be as good as the Atman since your ht delivery is only 4ft which is below the 2.4m limitation. Hope that you have taken the number of elbow feeds as they do affect your pump performance too.

Question 2: The performance of the pump deteriorates if it reaches its max delivery distance of 2.4m in your case and as well as the number of elbow feeds.

Question 3: Suggest that you get Aqua Media Ocean Runner 3500 L/H pump as they are as reliable as the Eheim but less expensive and of lower wattage.

Hope this helps ....

Aquamedic is less expensive compared to ehiem. Anyway , wat I did was to replace my 60W Atman pump with a 35W Atman 104 ( Max head 2m) . My objective here is to save electricity.Work out jus fine for me. My chiller is running with a Atman 103 ( 1300l/h)25W and weipro running 2000l/h atman 306 ,35W . I intend to replace w one AquaBee 3000l/h 35W or a Rainbow Lifeguard Quietone 4000 and do a tee off.

Can get it around $250 and long run it costs less expensive in terms of saving on electricity bill as less heat is generated, less power and chiller also lesser worktime.

OR 3500 = 65W
Eheim 1262 = 80W
