Guide to Betta Disease

Hi

I have been very keen on treating betta disease since i started off betta and the ability to treat them from any disease was my primary aim. Till now still is.

Since spawning and having so many fries, in the recent months the only death of betta has been due to
DROPSY- fish will not eat for some time and white shit comes out and then scales pop. (experiment in progress, hope to get lucky soon)
Gill problem together with weird growth on head and gills

Any other form of disease can be cured if spotted promptly and using the right medication.

Having tested more than 20 medications, i come up with a list of main med a good betta keeper should have:

Yellow powder (external and internal problem)
Methylene blue (external problems)
Anti internal bacteria (ocean free one is good, herbal and normal
ones)
Epsom salt from pharmacy (not eno)
Aquarium salt
Anti velvet (interpet)
ketapang leaves

Put these in medicine box will protect your fish for 90% of disease
provided you spot disease.

if you want to reward your betta, get the vitamins for fish....just
got ocean free one for my fish, to pay them back coz sell fish earn
money must give back to fish.

Velvet (common)
Interpet (for fries, treat as per normal, maybe start with lower dosage)

White Spot (uncommon)
Ocean Free

Hanging at surface staring at sky, not eating (will led to dropsy)
Interpet, ocean free anti internal bacteria, herbal anti bacteria

Finrot (very common)
Yellow Powder, methylene blue (interpet)

Swimming difficulty, floating, or cannot swim down
Epsom salt (laxative), anti swim bladder interpet

Dropsy, popping/ protruding scale, bloated
Be prepared for the worst.
(Latest: Lam Hong Bottle Yellow Powder + more salt + Anti internal bacteria (Interpet) and Ketapang leaves +epsom salt)

Constipation
Salt, anti internal bacteria, epsom salt (laxative)

Fungus on body
Green medication (malachite green) or methylene blue.

Cloudy eye/ Pop eye
Anti internal bacteria and salt

In all situation use salt. therefore in normal daily water change dun add salt. Ketapang leaves can help too, in fact, help a lot.
Dosage of med, according to instructions or trial and error.

If anything happen to yr fish not my fault! This is what i have learned and known. So any problem just refer to this and no need to sms me anymore lo. I also dun have to feel bad about not smsing back due to $ constraint.

Bro, do the vitamins work? I just add a capful of blackwater extract into every pail of aging water....so the acids and whatever else in there act as 'vitamins' for my fish. Din know can get like real vits. =)

Try not to feed live food.
Very high chance of getting a sick fish with internal problem.

Try not to pamper yr fish with all those goodies constantly.
If yr fish gets sick, then there's only little more you can do.
Like a drug la

My advice are just guidelines, all i mention is what i does. Works for me.

Hey Kelvin,

One question. Have you ever successfully treat a Betta with Dropsy? I have never in my life successfully treated Dropsy before, in any fish, be it betta or goldfish, etc. Seems like Dropsy is an uncurable disease.

Anyone here ever successfully treated a fish with Dropsy?

Dropsy no cure la, i got mention. use whatever med you have, cocktail la, if anyone succeed good can tell us.

but i htink prevention is the key, spotting a betta not eating is impt. use the int bact to try and save before it develop to dropsy

i notice my female plakat which i bought recently refuses to eat at all...never moves and even tho i change the water everyday, its always turns a greenish-yellow , anybody please ? i'm worried...

That's internal infection. This will eventually lead to dropsy in a couple of days. Put in some Bettamax to give it one last chance.
