Default Newbie here.. what essential test kit for saltwater?

Hi guys, i'm new to saltwater.. short story,i want to help my uncle on his saltwater business.. he have holding area for saltwater fish before shipment.. his house is near beach.. the saltwater he just take from the beach.. can u enlighten me what essential test kit to test the water from beach is good to take? because sometimes after he poured the new water from beach all his fish got skin problem..

from what i know,ammonia tester is the most essential for freshwater.. but don't know in saltwater.. help me guys.. thanks in advance..

Filter the seawater and run through UV before using. Natural seawater near our shores has a lot of things in it which you will not want to know.

i dun believe in shore water... i only believe in NSW which is collected at least 1km off the shore....

thanks bro.. may u explained me how to filter the shore water? the uv is it the same with uv filter that we used to prevent algae in FW tank?

NH3/4 and no2 shld be zero but maybe abit no3
sg level, mg and calcium is also a bit low for NSW

yes the uv is it the same with uv filter that used to prevent algae in FW tank

In order to test for the cycling of the tank, i feel the more important one is Ammonia and Nitrate test kit . Since the testing of Ammonia will tell you when the cycling start and end, while the Nitrate ( N03) will also be another indicator of the tank cycling being completed.
