For blue actinic light, since it is use for visual pleasure and not so much for corals, do u think its still practical to get blue PL light?
wouldnt a simple FL blue light do the trick to get the effect? confused..... |

To me, thats how i feel. Don't think you need very strong blue light since the white bulb would already contain some blue colour in its spectrum.

Actinic light have light spectrum that peaks at 420nm which causes the coral pigments to glow. Normal blue lights do not have this capability so you will see blue lights but no glow from corals.

No fixed schedule i guess more or less up to the individual, but usually what we do is on the white lights for 8-12hrs a day. We can also on the actinic blue during this time.
We can switch on the actinic blue 30mins-1hr prior to the white lights coming on to simulate dawn and 30mins-1hr after the white lights go off to simulate dusk.
