oppss very sorry...think u are talking to a newbie.

ok...my tank is only 1 ft and 2.5 weeks old with a few small fish.

Planted with hydrella (long to cover some of the light), 2 pieces if wood with moss tied, some grass and and some short plants that look like green "tao gay" only with 4 -6 more leaves per stalk that was sold on a metal mesh.

How do I get rid of ammonia or test for it.

I almost 50% (Wednesday) + 50% (Saturday) changed my water using bottled distilled water 10 Liters.

Sunday evening got 2 more Yamato to test, 2 hrs 1 became red (Tomato).
By morning 1 died.

50% water changes too much and sudden change in water parameter can cause shock to your shrimps

I changed the water coz all the shrimps died.
I waited ard 18 hrs after water change then added 2 more shrimps and did all the steps eg, float the bag for 1 hr, add some tank water then float for 1 hr....

its nothing to do with the temp.. its the water.. if dey die immediately.. take dem out..and put in sum aged water.. dey will come bak to life.. less than 5mins.. unless its too late now..

ur water is toxic.. high N maybe.. check it..

Firstly what kind of filtration are you using? Or are you using any at all?

How long have you run the tank for before you put in the shrimp?

Did you add any chemicals/salt/fertiliser or anything into the tank?

Do you know about the nitrogen cycle? If not you can do a search in the forums, that might explain why your shrimp are dying.

Meanwhile, suggest you don't buy any more lifestock until a solution is found.
