reducing photoperiod will also help in getting rid of the algae right ?/
i'm wondering if i just turning blue lights on , but off the daylight tube, will it do ? |

Yes, a reduction in photoperiod does help reduce algae growth.
Switching the blue light on should(i have not done this myself) control algae growth since there is hardly any red in the light spectrum. However, if you got corals, just leaving the blue light on in the long term is not good. Corals need a full spectrum lightbulb to survive also.
