In my case...no. However some friends claimed success by PP bombings alone. There are also some that dipped the tail of their aros into concentrated PP for about a minute and found success.

hahaha very old thread eh? like to contribute also however. i recently used KMnO4 and with some success and failure. i used it as a general water treatment to lower levels of free floating organic matter as well as fungus/disease. the dosage was 1tsp/600g and i noticed that this was very "light" as it was quickly spent in the water column. on following days i treated with additional increments of 1/8tsp / 600g and used an ORP probe as well as the visual purple/amber/brown color change test. my dosing control was to keep the ORP under 450mv and to keep the active period less than 5 minutes (when the purple turns amber). my observation is that, although ORP levels quickly increased and fish responded well, more active and less scraping, after the last treatments some fish actually became overstressed and succumbed to IC. i believe that as the PP ran out of organic matter in the water column, it indiscriminately acted on the fish and burned the slime coat right off???? in the past i have lost one bichir to PP dips due to overexposure (although it was recommended on reputable site). my suggestion for portential users is to not only read up and understand this toxic substance first, but to have some H2O2 handy, as well as stress coat for post KMnO4 administration, and increased aeration.
