Err.. it is like that because they are young ... once older the "horns" will be gone..

usually we all get less horny when we grow older .... or isit the other way round

i believe when they hatch frm eggs they r equip wit the horny like tinky to help they breath better , as they age they will be come small thus disappear

The horns r known as external gills if i m nt wrong n they will disappear when ur endy grow older.
