skimmer question
So I want to start a 5gallon or 10gallon nano. I only have a protein skimmer that's for a 55gallon. Should I use it on that small of a tank? Will it work the same? I don't want to buy another skimmer. Should I/can I make a small one for these set up?

From what i know, you shouldn't be able to overskim, so the skimmer meant for a 55gallon should be usable on your nano tank. Only possible concern could be, if it runs on a pump, the pump might generate a little bit more heat due to the much smaller setup(less total water volume).
As for DIY, not sure if it can be done. I don't recall seeing or hearing anyone having done a DIY on a skimmer before.

A fishtank is just like your computer. When your tank crash(OS crash), its time to cleanup(reformat hard drive) and setup(install OS) again and add new livestock(re-install software). |
