Anyone knows what's wrong?
Hi people. I'm new here, so bare with me.
My tank's water used to be at ph5. Thought it will be better if is at ph7 for my Blackmoors. So I added coral chips into my canister filter. After a day, the water ph is at 7 but somehow I realized my Blackmoors keep swimming at the surface of the water. Anyone knows what's wrong with it? I got air pump and 2 simple small plant with driftwood in the tank and my tank size is 60x30x36. |

Goldfish cannot take drastic pH change. moving from 5 to 7 is very drastic since it's exponential.
Also, higher pH increases toxicity of ammonia if your tank isnt cycled or if it's overstocked. As for gasping, it is normally a sign of lack of oxygen. How many moors do you have in your tank? It could also be a sign of stress caused by bad water parameters. I suggest doing daily water change abt 20-30% each time so you would allow your pH to stabilise gradually. Coral chips dont actually "raise" pH but raises the kH component to make your water harder. So its ok to use chips |
