no need the salt. put yellow powder into the tank, remove all filtration. do 100% waterchange daily. no heater. put anti-chlorine. it should heal in time, with some scars.

Bro, I do not recommend 100% water change daily... This will eventually kill the fish faster!! Also gotta compare current ph to new water's ph.

I made a grave mistake which I failed to realised earlier when treating my sick aro which eventually killed it faster... that is failing to check the ph in the hospital tank, when putting the fish to bath in furan/yellow powder....

If it's a new tank setup, and no coral chips in there to buffer plus no proper filtration the ph will drop. And even after water change with water conditioner, in some case will make the fish look as if it's fins are rotting away and clamped, body got all those whitish slim which make it look like suffering from fungus. And also eyes will be cloudy and look as if got cloudy eye infection seriously.

And even water change will not solve the problem.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that you must be very sure what's the problem before you add medication for some symptom is similar where treatment is totally different.

I lost a few $k to learn this lesson so I hope you can avoid this. Sometime, just by placing a bag of coral chip in there will solve everything.

hey bro, just abit of input of my own experience. for discus, i always do at least 100% waterchange everyday, with up to 200% on juveniles when i am growing them out. this maintains top water quality as heavy feeding causes water to be dirty quite quickly.

pH imo is not a big issue. had suspected that pH was the cause of some problems, but when i finally got down to testing pH levels, it seems that my fish could even breed and raise their young in pH of as high as 8. i also had my water fluctuate between pH 6.5 to as high as 8 during the 2005 water problem time.

100% water change is what my breeder friends and i would do to cure such fish as water quality is of top most priority when it comes to treating fish, and in a fish tank with medication and without filtration, water fouls quickly if not careful.

but i guess to each their own methods of disease treatment. i have never had casualties from 100% waterchange for the past years of discus keeping, except when i forget to put antichlorine, fish at my place dies within half an hour.

Agreed on this one. Put a bag of coral chips solves most problems. As for water changes. Best with Aged water and not to do 100% WC.
