To me, all fish are opportunities. Once they r exposed to fish or shrimp food, they will not choose algae as their main course.

for me, Otto is a nono. they always hit and run. stressing my shrimps further.

i just use melamine sponge and wipe the front and just let the algae grow freely for the 2 sides and back panel. Shrimplets loves to graze on them.

Won't it cause a mess when using sponge to clean the glass? I always accidentally squeeze the sponge too hard and the dirt collected on it will flow all over the place.

I only clean the front for viewing pleasure...With hands and sponge.
Side and back as a food for my shrimps...

Personally i have no luck with ottos.
They always die for no visible reason. Used to keep them with CRS by the way.

I didn't find they caused harm to shrimps but they will fight for food.

Switched to horned snails and found they did a great job only drawback was like what others have said, water was too soft for them and caused shell erosion.

Is it advisable to add in one or two Otto to do the job instead? As my tank has only some crs and fissidens, would the bioload increase substantially when Otto is added?

All advice and comments are welcome. Thanks.
I think Otto will do the job, but its rather dangerous for shrimplets in my experience
