Factors that affect the reproduction rate of CRS

Hmm, I kind of recall reading somewhere that the white powder from shirakura is not for local water. That powder is meant to buffer something else which I can't seem to remember.. But at 23 degrees, my shrimps are still producing. Probably some other factors? U mentioned you feed twice a day. What are your nitrate and nitrite levels?
