If your Arowana ever jumped out of tank or dashed against top cover or tank sides, it can cause bent spine.

If the above did not happen, you may want to shutdown your filter and all pumps. Observe it for severals minutes to see it straigthens even slightly ~ if that's the case, your pump is too strong.

Another probable cause is too high a heater temperature setting. If you run a heater around 29~31 degree C, some Arowanas bend ~ lower it to 26 and wait for 24 hours for temperature to stabilise, then observe fish.

Another is the diet. If you feed only dried food, please soak with tankwater or press it with fingers before feeding to fish if your Arowana normally eats immediately.

Does it have tankmates that are bottom feeders and is your Arowana constantly looking downwards at them ? Also, do you switch on strong lights and is your tank bottom white and shiny ?

One other possibility is defect.

Take care.

Default I just got this problem recently

I just experienced this very recently. I think my aro got it due to shock. It had eye infection as well. I was damn scared when i saw it but it recovered by itself...

Bro, sometimes the water is not right the aro will be like tat for a while and after that it will straightened again and swim normally. If the aro swims in the "bent" manner chances are injury or defect as what Bro TetraArowana have said.
Maybe the aro medics can give us a better explaination.

HI,

Thank you all for valuable information, will be trying each method. Had tried switching off the heater. Next will be turning the current off. Finally, lowering the water level.

I have no tankmates, hence the removing of tankmates does not apply.

Had spoken to the auntie of C328 and she mentioned that it could be due to internal infection of the fish and recommended medicine for it. After all the methods above fails, will try the medicine.

However, still appreciate any other great advice.

Cheers

Hi Desiree,

HOw long did it took for your aro to recover by itself? What di you do beside letting it to recover naturally? Lower water level, frequency of water changes, etc?

Cheers

Thanks for the concern, just lowered the water and top up with some new ones, dimmed the lightings and turned off the current. Will continue to monitor.

Will update all again.

Bro,

please do not off your filter for too long....within 1 hour your BB is gone.....just a few minutes to check if your Arowana straightens....

Take care.

hI,

Beside the current being turned off, I still have a round plate air stone thats supplying the oxygen. Just checked, the spine istill bended, maybe the current is not the issue either.

Cheers
