Werid Behavior
Hi,
I have a 6" Jardini arowana living in a 100 gallon tank. I just moved him from a 55 gallon. Its acting very werid now, its swimming around the bottom of the tank instead of the top and is going up and down on the sides. Sometimes it even lays on the bottom for a couple of seconds and then swims to the middle and goes back down to the bottom and just swims around. Its active and eats but he has gill curl and has had it for awhile now. I read that the only way to cure this was to do a small surgery so I just left him alone. I'm new to arowanas and was wondering if the gill curl could actually kill the arowana? Is this behavior a sign that its sick or something? I have been feeding him crickets ever since he was 1 or 2 inches long and have had him for about 6 months now. I just did a water change and added aqua safe and blackwater extract but hes still swimming around the bottom. I believe they don't add chlorine to our tap waters. Does anyone know what is wrong with my arowana and if its life threathening? Thanks |

http://www.geocities.com/bkyoong/problem.html . I think ur jardini is due to new tank. Give it time to settle down. It doesn;t really matter weather they got add anti-chlorine or not. Just add it urself. If ur jardini curl gill is harden, better ask a vet to do surgery. Will grow back |

For the curl gill, try to get a vet to opt it. Cos will cuase porb after long run & may lead to death as the gill is expose to outside. For the behavior, is due to new tank. That is alright |

which part of Hawaii are you from bro? I'm from Hawaii to and know that the water here is not fully chorinated like alot of places in the world. I think they may put a little but not much. how often do you change water? of all the aros with gill curl that I have seen it was from poor water conditions and not enough water changes. hardly ever used any anti-chlorine for my aros the only thing that I use is Stress Coat for my Jardini whenever he whacks himself on something in the tank. Stress Coat will dissolve chlorine but I mainly use it because it has aloe vera to help with the wound and slime coat of the fish. if he doesn't hurt himself I never use it. |

A vet will do rite? I dun think u need a vet who only know how to cure fish?? As for the water, since they say no, then never mind. But i think just add in the anti chlorine just incase. I think Stress coat should always add in after Water change. Dun have to wait till he injured or sick. They have some good things in the solution. Not only for anti chlorine |
