Maintain good water condition. Add salt to the water to keep away any infection.

you can also try turning off lights (24/7) and cover all the sides of your tank. This will make your tank dark......and let the barbel grow in a faster rate.

Barbels of aros are 1 of the sensory organs. If you let your aro stay in a dark environment......and let his sensory organs do all the work.........probability of the barbels re-grow faster and catch the length of the other one.

good luck bro.

you said it right.

There was once an experiment with two Arowanas in complete darkness.

One with and the other without barbels.

Food was thrown in and the one with barbels ate it long before the one without found it.

So the trick is make the barbels alive as mentioned by our Bro above.

Keep fish in a slightly underfed condition to make it want to hunt with its barbels.

One of my RTGs lost the barbel right at the base, it slowly grew back but took a LONG LONG time.

since your aro's barbel was cut from the base....that will really take some time. I guess when that happened..your aro was young. If that happened in an adult aro.....chances of growing is very very slim.

so consider yourself lucky

Hi
I have somewhat a similar problem.
If it is not broken but 'bent' at mid length, will melafix help to fix it ?
Currently, 1 barbel is straight and the other cross over to the other.
