Default Scale Rot/Eye Cloudy?

Hi All,

I'm new here, not only in this forum but also new to arowana keeping. Without any knowledge about aro and any pre-studies about aro, i got my first aro 4 months back. Not long after keeping little one, i was sent for a overseas trip for 3 months. My wife took up the care and i would say she did a pretty good job. 7 ~ 8 inches now at 4 months old.

I just came back last weekend, i was happy to see my aro grew bigger now but sad to see that there are some scales rot, or is it scale rot? The scale looks like got bitten off, not alot, around 4 scales. Besides, the eyes are a little cloudy? Not too sure also, it takes a while to see it. I'm not good at photography and so no pics post.

Went to celementi shop last nite and owner recommeded a medication for all kind of problems for aro. Tried and result seems satisfactory, this morning saw that scale rot stopped.

Now i have anothor question, my aro is not feeding for 4 days already. When will it start to feed again and how can i get it to feed again?

Thanks.

Hi bro
Can i know what kind of filtration u re using?
I suggest that u invest abit on quality filtration and media so as to improve the water parameter and this will hasten the aro recovery process and will start to eat soon

hi aroHaji,

wat is the medicine added? wat was its last food intake?
U may wish to check our water parameters (NH3/NH4+, NO2, NO3, pH) .
poor water condition and stress (eg. aggressive tankmates) can affect its appetite.

Cheers.

Hi WanWan,

I think it had super worm on Sunday.

Didn't really look at the medication but the whole tank turned greenish after apply and according to instruction, it can be use even if aro is not sick.

How to check water parameter?

Oh no....the eyes looks quite bad. Right at the middle of the body, that is where the scales rot.

How to check water parameter?
how many SW did it eat? overfeeding/indigestion may result in fasting. but ur case seems more complex.
it's always good to know what medicine before dosing . U can use test kits to test the basic parameters. the kits (chemical tests or dip-sticks) can be purchased from most fish shops.

ur aro dun look good. u may wish to PM our aromedics for advice.

Good luck.
