Default Can someone help me?

This is my first aro and I'm kinda lost here. I got my RTG about 2 months ago he was fine until about 2 weeks ago his fins and tails start to have tearage. I change 15 % to 20% of the water every 4 or 5 days. I've also been using melafix for a week now but it doesn't seem to work. Can someone help me? I have pictures in the gallery of the fins and tail.
Thanks.

I am very sure that it is ur water. Test it for PH and Nitrate levels. Also replace your water filter if necessary. Hope this help.

It's often attributed to poor water conditions. I would continue with your regular water changes, then test your water parameters to ensure your conditions are optimal. This will greatly benefit your fish.

Basic info like PH,ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, filtration etc. might be helpful

Melafix/Pimafix can be used to assist in the healing process related to the ailment. Both are all-natural healing remedies. Good luck to you!

PimaFix has been formulated to work in combination with MelaFix to enhance effectiveness against fish diseases.

Hope that help.

Thank You everyone for your inputs. My PH level seems to be fine. I don't have a NH3/NH4 test kit yet but getting one soon.

(Wan Wan)...........Do you mean do I filter my water before I put it into the tank? The water goes thru a 5 micron filter unit befor it goes into the tank.

Do you guys think it would be better if I change the water more often like every 2 day?

Thanks everyone.

hi manhung,

filtering ur water is good before adding into the tank. Most importantly, anti-chlorine & anti-chloramine should be added. u may also wish to run the water through AC to remove undesirable chemicals. aging the water for at least 24hrs bubbling with air stone also helps.

as for the freq of WC, u can change more freq with less amt (eg. 10% each time twice a week instead of 20% weekly).

Cheers.

bro, my advice is try to change your water 10% everyday, add one soup spoon of aquarium salt. Until an expert advise don't put any medication.
By the way, is your filter new or old ?

Lightbulb Water problem..

Hi Bro,

I think u need to add AC to your water from the tap that u age.Atleast one day with areation & best to make your water run over the AC for a day b4 you use it for your fish.My also got such problem due to chroine & other chemical in the water..it can kill..so advise to age your water & add AC to run for a day & take it..than your water will b ready for your fish.
