Wink Wrong sub forum... but anyway....

bps only a guide, norm is 3 bps but it has to depend on how u inject the CO2, ie by diffusor or reactors? the best way is to use the PH/KH chart. recommended CO2 level is about 30ppm.

usually, pple tends to put the lights and CO2 on the same timer, ie. CO2 will be injected when the lights turn on and vice versa. however, i put them on seperate timer, ie. CO2 will turn on half hr be4 lights turn on whilst turn off 1hr prior lights out.

another method some members practise is to leave CO2 on 24/7. this will prevent PH swing during non-photo and photo period. however, you will have to monitor your live stocks closely as the tank may get too saturated with CO2 during non-photoperiod when the plants compete with the livestocks for O2.

Nguy had given a very detailed explanation on the usage of CO2. In summary,
bps is just an estimation. Get KH and PH kits and use the readings to cross
reference with the kh/ph chart to find out your CO2 concentration.

Refer to this
http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_co2chart.htm

Im using a solenoid CO2 system too. Will say 8 hours will be good enough.
Turning on early to give the CO2 injection a headstart and turning if off early for the CO2 to be fully utilised will be good.

The most important thing is not how long you turn on your CO2.
Rather, it is the the efficiency of the CO2 being injected and mixed with the water to give you the optimum CO2 concentration in the water in which
the CO2 injection device and good water circulation have a big part in it.
