Default 45 degree slant (head up)

Ive noticed that when my aro rests sometimes it sits at a 45 degree angle upwards (head up).... is there anything i can do about this? is this caused by bladder infection? Im currently treating it for a bladder infectin and bent spine.... and just noticed the 45 degree slant...

thanks

wat is ur water level?
i think lowering water level to a comfortable level (dep on size of aro & seriousness of body slant) may help. [pls correct me if i'm wrong].

btw, how are u treating it & with wat?

im treating the bladder infection and bent spine with a raise in temperature to 32 degrees, 0.3 percent epson salt and 0.3 percent aquarium salt, low water level (about one inch above the fish) and waterchange every three days. Im also adding a small amount of melafix and pimafix daily.

thank you

seems ok to me except the salt adds up to 0.6%...seems a little high jus continue to monitor closely.

Good luck

I read that the epson salt content does not effect the aquarium salt content.... but im not sure if thats correct..... should i lower the water level even more? he is still able to slant even with the water level down. should i lower it so it is just enough to cover it??

i'm not sure but u may be right becoz the composition of epsom & aquar salt are diff. i would think epsom salt is better than aq. salt when treating illness. however, i dun remember adding 0.3% of each salt

as for lowering the water level even more, i'm not too sure about it . maybe some bros with experience in this area can advise further.

Cheers.

Epson salt is someting like eno to clear the stomach. For better result, lower water level 1 inch above the aro to make him stay horizontal. Aquarium salt also must add to help kill batc. If still cannot treat, need to buy some med to help.

Hi All Blue

U can lower the water to just touch the back of the aro to keep him horizontal. I suggest u PM vetduck ( he is a vet) if still cannot recover. U might need some anti botic for the aro. SBP cos by infection can take longer time to treat. Some, never recover

Well, I'm also encountering the similar problem. It does not just happened to smaller aros, mine abt 2ft also having the similar problem. Try not to lower the water level too sunddenly in one shot the aro must adjust to it. And good to have airstones in the tank water so that at least it can keep the exposed part if any moist else the scale will get 'burnt'.
