Default Dosage of Melafix

Recently my RTG injured with a scale drop after hitting the tank cover. I added melafix slightly lower than the dosage mentioned in the bottle.

First day, 50ml to my 5 x 2 x 2 tank, tank consist of 13" RTG, 8" motoro, 6" FF and 8" ST. Water turn slightly cloudy after dosing the melafix. All fishes are active and eating.
Second day, another 50ml dosage of melafix, only RTG not eating and stay most of the time at the water surface in one corner. But all other fishes are O.K. and eating well.

Today will be the third day, I do not know should I continues to dose the melafix as the instruction indicated (daily for 7 days). I did not change any water after the first dose. The RTG has some improvement on the injury scale.

Any advise ?

Bro, Don't add anymore Melafix! I also find the daily dosage strange! I have never followed the instruction of adding daily......otherwise will go broke! Or will have overdose! Adding twice should be good enough. Just monitor your aro and see whether it eats. If it doesn't, then just do your regular water change. Melafix is quite mild actually......strange that your aro is behaving differently.

Normally for dropped scales I just add salt to about 0.2%.......but I think Melafix is good also.

Thanks Bros

Yes, I also find the dosage strange (daily for seven days). But it stated clearly in the instruction and even their website. It also proven that it work as my RTG wound is healing after two days. I also search similar topics from the threads, but no firm answer regarding the dosage of melafix.
So I would like to know any bros here using it with daily dose up to seven days ?

I doubt anyone doze Melafix for 7 days daily! So let's wait and see......I also want to know if anyone really follow strictly to the instructions! Btw, this medication is not cheap......but I know lots of bros swear by it!

Even though I never follow up to 7 days, my big bottle very fast finish already for my 5 x 2 x 2!!!

Bro motoro tend to be more sensitive than other fish so be more careful when u add melafix.

for drop scale you don't even need melafix. your aro is not sick just add salt and keep up the water changes. I never had sucess using melafix and the fish ended up dying when I used melafix. I also dislike their instructions about adding every day for seven days. you risk hurting your sting ray as they are very sensitive to chemicals in the water.

I definitely agree with poi pounder. A single drop scale doesn't need melafix. I had an aro that drop more than 10 scales & cut its face & even then I only added some salt. It went on to heal completely. Check out Holy Red in my gallery. You can't even see the scars now.

Moral of the story is try to resist adding medication to your tank, because most of the time it's unnecessary.

Thank Bros

I will explain why I add melafix into my tank.

Since end of last month, my RTG scales has some problem, about 3 scales each side like rotting, the scales like been scrapped (not chipped edge). See my posting : http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=190827

During that time, I still hesitate to dose any medicine except adding salt and raising temperature to about 32 degC. Until two days ago, it jump and hit the cover and has some cut on his head as well as a big scale drop (the first scale on the head top).

Therefore, I try melafix since it claimed to be ....... See this site : http://www.koivet.com/html/articles/...me=Medications

Honestly, after two dosage of melafix the last two days, I realised this morning my RTG wounds including the drop scale, cut on it head as well as the body scales has improved quite a lot. I am happy to see the healing of it body scales which has been there for almost a month.

Now, the question is whether should I continue to dose melafix according to the instruction and on hold ? So any bros here ever using melafix accordingly (dose daily for 7 days) ?

Please advise
