1) What eats manti shrimps?

2) Are they reef-safe?

3) Are the even useful to our tanks?

4) What are the chances it will smash your tank?

5) Will it die due to starvation?

6) Is the clicking sound an indication of their presence? Could the clicking sound be given out by other stuff?

1) What eats manti shrimps?
if they are small, u can try hawk fish or octopus..but octopus difficult to remove next time

if you have no fish or shrimps yet..can try trigger, they will take out your crabs also

2) Are they reef-safe?
they are not, they will kill your shrimps or fishes for meals

3) Are the even useful to our tanks?
IMO, no..they dont eat detritus..but eats ours fishes or shrimps

4) What are the chances it will smash your tank?
chances is highly unlikely the tank will really break...my friend showed me once he made his mantis wack the tank...well, the tank didnt break..it was a peacock mantis around 12 cm long

5) Will it die due to starvation?
yes it will, but it takes quite a long time

6) Is the clicking sound an indication of their presence? Could the clicking sound be given out by other stuff?
it can be caused by pistol shrimps or the shells of snails knocking on the glass

better to locate the mantis and seal off his him using epoxy trapping him inside or use fresh water and squirt into his him to flush him out or set up traps to trap him...

pls advise bros

thks bro...

ur answer to no. 4 is very comforting to hear....lol

anyway, i really dunno what is making the clicking sounds. if its a mantis shrimp, i believe
it will get rid of all the hitchhiking tiny crabs rite? but last nite i saw quite a couple of tiny brown crabs.

BUT i do saw 2 bigger crabs! orangey colour. abt 3 cm big.1 is burrowing in the livesand. the other one hiding in the crevices of the liverocks.

how how? whats the best method to catch them??

and what is making the clicking sound if its by a mantis shrimp or pistol shrimp?

best method i would say is to rescape and dig the crabs out..thats what i did..twice...

first time caught more then 20 hairy crabs..the second time is to remove a huge one...fish killer..one pile of bones outside his den...got my moorish idol, my blue throat trigger, a true percular...it was the size of an average small handphone..orange with black tip pincers..

another way is to use a chicken essence glass bottle, put some food inside and put on the sand, buried half way and tilted at an angle so that they can go in but cant climb out...well, i did try..but i caught my hermit crab instead
