DIY 8inch needlewheel Skimmer
After much considerations mostly on financial aspect,i decided to DIYed a needlewheel skimmer.
The first 3 pic below describe used hot air gun to make a tappered skimmer flange which attached to the riser tube. http://www.cvreefers.org/showthread.php?t=3157 Most of the needlewheel skimmer as this tappered shape(aquamedic, deltec,H&S)or whatever u call it,instead of the usual flat surface that u see in most beckett skimmers. The principle of having this tappered shape is quite basic so as not to make the bubble joint together and become bigger and burst before reaching the riser. What we want is foamy cottonwool type of bubbles ozzing out of the collection cup. this pic shows how i used flange to clamp the acrylic and 2 hot air gun to heat top and bottom part of the 5mm acrylic. another angle.u can see the condition of the acrylic as it was from a scrap bin.the rest of the acrylic part i order from Dama 10mm thick and 5mm wall for the tubes. the tappered flange. thats it for now, will update as i progress. |

Was contemplating to use Deltec needlewheel, but it cost about 85 Euro for just the needlewheel alone.
So i settle with OR3500 and needlewheel impeller bought from Sewatec. OR6500,OR3500 and needlewheel from Sewatec.Damaged $459 (includes delivery. |

yupp...base on one of Singapore online shop, its cheaper from Sewatec.
How cheap? Like buying a OR6500 and get a OR3500 for free. But again, theres risk buying from oversea, (damage item). |

Agreed that the packaging from Sewatec is of shipping standard as all my previous purchases arrived in good condition with damages.
