Aro not really swimming

Hey guys...

I have an 8" silver aro I got about 2 weeks ago. He was swimming and eating fine for about a week and a half. Then all of a sudden he stopped eating, one of the tank makes got cloudy eye and died yesterday. Now he just swims in the corner of the tank, right into the wall and doesn't move from there very often. Water conditions are all at zero. I should mention that before this happened I think I may have had a CO2 spike and/or a decrease in oxygen in the water as there wasn't any water movement at the surface. I checked the PH and it had dropped from about 7.4 to 6.4 in probably less then a week. It's been about 2 days since I added some powerheads to agitate the waters surface and get some oxygen into the water. I think the ph dropped because of all the CO2. Also the ph has been stable back up around 7.4 - 7.6 for last day and a half. Any thoughts as to why he's still not swimming around?

since there was a casualty on tankmates...
i kinda suspect its the water condition (cloudy eye effect too).
perhaps u may wanna try to do a water chg say 10%-30% and c how it goes...
silvers are kinda hardy in a way...

Did you cycle your tank?

Yeah it's been cycled. There no nitrates, or ammonia or nitrites. All the readings are zero. As an update, I did a complete clean of the tank, removing stones and all and swept the floor removing any grit from the stones from the previous owner. Also changed about 30% of the water. He seemed far more active during the cleaning process, swimming around happily it seemed, not spooked by me at all. I then added a thin layer of sand into the tank instead of using stones. He was swimming around quite normal after it was all completed, never once retreating into his corner. The PH is also stabilized now that there's some good aeration going on. So I guess we'll just wait and see in the next few days. He would also swim up to the glass and kinda *greet* me when I stuck my face near it.

All readings are zero meaning your tank had not been cycled. A fully cycled tank will have some nitrates reading depending on the bioload of your tank.
Do your water testing on the parameters again. Hope your aro is not having ammonia spike at this moment.

When do water change, do you age your water or put anti-chlorine in the tank. Suspect get chlorine poisoning.

Try changing e water......
