What kind of disease causes hole in scales
My x-back has these holes/caves on some of the scales for some time and its getting worse. I am not sure what causes these defects to occur but I am quite sure it is not chipped scales. It looks like the scales have been slowly eaten away. So far, I have not tried any medication yet, just reducing the frequency in feeding, and the main diet is superworms.
Any bros with idea on the cause and what remedies to take, please advice. Cheers, Bryan |

do you remove those not finished SW? if left to rot and decay in tank/ canister it can be very toxic to the water - guess you are too busy bro. Happen to one of my XB also - this dont happen over night . when is the last time you clean your filter or change your cotton wool? |

Hi, bro
Yr aro could be infected with parasites, Mine happens a few mths ago. It 'eats' into the scale n even the new scales underneath it. It starts off with some chipped scales on the outer rims then slowly find its way inner. What I did was: 1) Changed the entire old media, CC, Bioballs, Japmat (abt 6mths old). Wash n flush the sump tank. Replaces it with the bigger size CC, rinse thoroughly the existing BioHse, Biohme+, new Japmat, add new aquaclay. 2) Concurrently, lower tank water to half, put in medication as per indication, 'Off' filteration system, power up the air pump to oxygenate the water.. Left for abt half a day... Then starts the filter pump to circulate the filteration system..... Once the cycling runs, repeat 2) for the next 24hrs. At this stage no feeding. It improving progressively but bear in mind to be patience n maintain good water parameters...... Just my sharing and Hope this helps.......... |

The infected scales seems to 'rot' / 'decay' n if u look closely it really eats into the inner rim / core. but no signs of any things in naked eyes.
The behaviour of aro also normal n eats well too. Actions got to be taken if not it will spread to other scales too... The infected scales will take very long time to cure or had to be pulled out.... |
