Default Planted Tank 5 x 2 x 2

My tanks:
2 x planted tank (1 x 2-1/2' x 1' x 2' for Shrimp)(5' x 2' x 2')
1 x 3 Frontosa (5' x 2' x 2')
1 x for trend usage (whatever the market is palying with)(1 x 2-1/2' x 1-1/2' x 2' for Shrimp)

Planted Tank 1
Tank Size: 540L 5ft x 2ft x 2ft
Substrate: Normal American sand
Lighting: 2 x 150W MH 6500k - 8 hours per day
Co2: 5 bubble per sec
Fertilizers: Liquid - Sera Florena 25ml weekly, Root Stick (10 x 10 stick per box) very six month
Water Change: 20% every 2 weeks
Filtration: External Eheim
Temp: 25 degree C
PH: 6.8
Chiller: Teco TR20

Plants:
Hairgrass, Moss, Etc, do not know much of the name

Fishes:
1 x puffer (for Killing Snail)
20 x Rummy Nose
20 x Cardina Tetra
20 x Black Tetra
10 x Midget sucker Catfish
5 x SAE
20 x Glowlight Tetra
3 x Emperor Tetra

Shrimp:
10 x Cherry
10 x Yamato
50 x Normal aglae eating Shrimp

Experiences: I have been trying to setup my planted tanks for 6 years, however success only come recently when I insert massive root ferterlizer and added a chiller, however my hairgrass are not still not doing so well, I notice that only when other plant start to grow around and cover most of the view, it start growing runner and look good, result to this I did try to clear off the surrounding plant and replant it again, however the newly planted turn yellow to brown and die off shortly.

Welcome all Comments

Regards
Eric

Yes, here are some full length photos, however taken from a HP, hence no so clear.

You should start with buying a tank first He!He!

Here are some consideration:
- Planning actually where you should place, a permanent and cool area without direct sun light
- Size: the bigger the tank, the easier to maintain
- CO2 set,
- Good light,
- Substrate: propose ADA soil
- Base Fertilizers + Liquid
- Filtration: External filter
- Chiller

Of course, if you need further information, just drop me a mail, or others will also help

All Prices are approximate from Memory
Tank 540L 5ft x 2ft x 2ft - FOC - Some friend of my gave me
Substrate: Normal American sand - SGD 40
Lighting: 2 x 150W MH 6500k - SGD 850.00 (2nd Hand)
Co2: SGD 128.00 full set (Includes bubble counter, Diffuser, Regulator Cannister 2L, one way valve, Elect Solenoid timer)
Fertilizers: SGD 80.00
Filtration: External Eheim - SGD 200.00+ (2nd)
Chiller: Teco TR20 - SGD 1,000.00+

Starter product which have been tried unsucessful and threw cost about 1,500.00 (Light, CO2 Regulator, Instant CO2 Kit, Hood, Filter, etc)

My advise if you really keen and are willing to have a place in your house took up for this hobby, go for all high end product instead, my try and error cost lot of unwanted time and money spent.
