Unhappy White spot on pleco, Please help

Hi bro and sis,

I recently purchased some L174 pleco, and after a few days, they developed white spots. What is the best thing i should do? Leave them alone? Or use medication(which i hate)..?

Is white spot deadly?

cheers,

add abit salt + heater at 32 deg. too much salt can kill ur plecos. so better b careful on ur salt dosage.

aquarium salt. cooking salt is not as purified as aquarium salt. if ur tank is 2ft probably just add 1 teaspoon will do.

Thanks alot schmike for your help. My tank is 1ft cube, so i guess 1/2 a teaspoon?
How much does a heater usually cost? and which brand to get?

Oh an update, Normally my L174 are all hiding inside the driftwood, now most of them are coming out very frequently and clinging by the tank sides. Is this a cause of worry? White Spot doesn't kill, does it?

cheers,

probably just add a small pinch of salt. im not so sure how sensitive L174 is to salt. some plecos r very sensitive to salt. better dissolve the salt in water n pour it into the tank. for 1ft cube u can get 50w heater. personally i will either get jager or rena.

coming out n clinging by the sides of the tank is ok. white spot can kill if it gets too serious.

I had a Short body albino senegal in this tank at first, but after i bought this plecos, i transfered my senegal into a pail, as im scared it will eat up these cute fellas(it ate up two of my altums before )..

Thinking of moving my poor sb albino senegal back to this tank.. Will it eat up these plecos(measuring around 4cm)?

cheers,
