Default Which filter to use?

hi all,
will be upgrading to a 3 feet from my current 1.5.
was wondering which filters to use, preferably canister.
please help.
if possible, can anyone also advise me on what type of soil to use and where to buy it cheapest?

at my point of view, personally i recommend Ehiem, coz is durable n if any goes wrong, it have 3 yrs warranty and its spare part is easily found on most lfs... maybe u can consider to invest in it....

agree... for filters, go for value for money rather than cheap.

are u on a tight budget? if not can consider an eheim.

if got some budget constraint, consider a 2nd hand eheim

bro, besides filter. medium are more important as they will cultivate beneficial bacteria. for medium, go for bio homme. i believe majority would agree with me.

true... no point getting good canister with rubbish medium inside... no use...

if getting eheim ecco or pro, it comes with eheim medium so thats another point to consider also... not just cost of canister but cost of canister + medium...

for me, i mainly use Mr Aqua CR in my cannister n some bio home......

bro any reviews on Mr Aqua CR? it is cheaper compared to biohome and eheim right.

since we talking about filter media, can i ask what is the general lifespan? is it the more the merrier?

also, if i have bio home plus and eheim ball, how should the arrangement be? should i still place bio home last?

for me, my layout is from bottom is blue sponge follow by red biohome follow by Mr Aqua CR then filter wools.... Personally i think it doesnt make a difference, after all, the medium is soak in the water...... correct me if i'm wrong.....
