New Koi Pond Advice Needed
Kong Xi Fa Cai to all bros!
I am thinking of getting a koi pond (approx 5m x 3m x 1m deep) constructed at my new place in the next 2 months or so. Can any experienced bros out there recommend me a good pond contractor and what is the estimated cost of building such a pond? Should I leave the filter design to the contractor or should I get more research done first? I worry about water quality a lot as I tend to overstock my pond.... Thanks in advance! Regards winsteo |

My suggestion is go to a Koi farm and build the the pond by them. Maybe cost more expensive than your contractor, but the system is a guarantee working system. (And their cost usually include filter media and pump which are very expensives also). You can try Max, Diamond, JK, etc. |

Try to have a dry chamber where you can flush all the dirt in the chamber everyday with less fuss.
Here is some link for you to read on pond building. At least you have an idea when the contractor show you his plan on the pond and filteration chamber. http://www.akca.org/library/build1.htm http://www.koi.com.my/ericlim.html Hope this help. |

Just my 2c worth....for my koi pond i DIY myself, using my maid's help to dig the ground, then get a contractor to waterproof cement the walls, do my own filter box n pumps, plus wiring, using low wattage pumps, like seio wavemakers, rio etc in this way my elect bills is very low...so you have to read up on design n dictate the requirement, if not cost can be considerable n elect consumption high.

Don't skimp on the filter. You will regret it if you do.
