Help, my ray losing slime!
Oh dear, after 20-25% WC last night (usual weekly routine), my 5" male PDR SP started to loose slime on its body. Today loose even more slime.
I use tap water for WC but also uses more than enough of bio-stress guard.....all my other fishes (aro, IT, NTT, rapheal cat) including a 8" female motoro are all ok and normal.....none of my other fishes are attacking this male PDR SP.....it was active as usual before WC last night....... Checked water parameters, nothing unusal.....readings all in the normal range....water also very clear and not cloudy...... Anyone can help? How to stop the poor PDR SP from loosing slime....really scared it will pass on.....oh no, I got a pair of SP Pearl Ray Pups coming to my tank this Thursday somemore...... |

Just an humble opinion, do you have any other tanks? Perhaps, you transfer it to another tank and monitor it first. I am unaware if the slime may transmit to other rays. Let hear what those ray expert advice. I would like to know the cure too.
Thanks Koolman |

that's why I'm so worried...however, my motoro totally normal.....
one good thing is my ray actually turn better after I added "ISTA General Tonic" according to recommended dosage....the medication states (I'd summarize them): 1- Rich in Vitamin B, help appetite, colour appearance 2- Contain special formula to form protection slime coating and guard bacteria infection. Helps clarify water 3- Treatment for diseases as tail rot, gill redening, skin infection, rapidly respiration, discolouration, emaciation, dropsy and popeye 4- Harmless to plant I added this medication around 3pm before posting this thread.....now my ray turn better and I tried feeding MP 15 mins ago, it is eating together with my other fishes..... I guess this is PH burn, it happen to my previous motoros before and they recovered in a few days time.....hopefully for this fella, it will recover.....the slime like not so obvious and the perimeter of the disc like not so bad.....must really dose more water conditioner next time and water flow must be slower during WC Last edited by Nic73; 30-03-2010 at 08:35 PM. |

So far, prime seems to act the fastest.. u might want to take note bro Best is u age the water with anti-chlorine in a separate container for 1-2hr first before WC. Rays are sensitive creatures
