Default Newbie to Reefing, need help

Hi all bros out here, am switching from freshwater to saltwater fishes after waiting for 1 year! Hence I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out here as to what to buy for my 2ft tank. Intend to only keep few clownfishes and other small ones using liverocks to keep the tank cycled.
1. What are the necessary equipments to have in the start?
2. Is using a fan to cool the water necessary?
3. Is an overhead filter suitable using a powerful powerhead?
4. Is it advisable to purchase seawater from LFSs as a start to fill the tank and get it cycling?
5. How long should the cycling tank?

Really really thanks in advance to the help to my newbie questions!

Welcome to the hobby.

1) I would recommend reading deep_end's introduction article here. I would not go into what each equipment does as it would make this reply way too lengthy. In a nutshell, you will need at least coral sand(c1,c2), artificial saltmix(if not buying seawater), powerhead/wavemaker, testkits(ammonia, nitrite,pH), lights.

2) If water temperature does not consistently exceed 31deg, its not necessary to use a fan.

3) Not advisable unless the returns of the overhead filter is submerged underwater. The reason is because the returns of an overhead filter is generally above water level and when the water returns back to the main tank, there is splashing. Splashing causes salt spray which is bad for the light and nearby electrical/metal stuff.

4) Its up to you for this one. For me, I mix my own artificial saltwater using salt mix.

5) Typically 3-5weeks. Cycling is usually deemed to have ended when ammonia and nitrite register 0.

I just started saltwater few months ago. Started buying 23bags of saltwater for my 3ft tank. Cycled the water for 1 month before putting in a few cheap fishes in to try the water. After a few weeks if the fishes are ok, it means the water is ok too. Time to get your desired fishes

Can't be rushed so take your time bro

Should use test kit to test if the tank is cycled instead of using live fishes, bad example.

Very bad advice.. save $ on test kits will end u up with spending more on getting the correct water parameter

actually nitrite not so important, ammonia more important, must be 0 before u add any fishes. Most of the fish can withstand nitrite, if they are not super high.
