How long has the mouth been opened?
Is it slightly or very opened? Is the mouth moving slightly (gaping) as if it's having difficulty breathing or lack of air? Mine, long time ago, was slightly ajar for a few days. Moving rhythmically as if it is breathing through the mouth. I pump in air via airstone and agitate the surface of water to encourage air and oxygen exchange into water. 1 or 2 days later, the mouth remained shut again as before. Since then, I've adjusted the water flow to agitate the surface of tank water to encourage air exchange. Oh yes, it was eating too although mouth slightly opened. |

Saw a red recently at a lfs, the mouth half open permanantly but also eating well. It recover by itself around 2 weeks later. Don't think they add any med for it. Believed should heal naturally.
