Default opinions needed regarding ray's sex maturity..

my leoleopearl and henpearl are abt 1.5yrs old.. are they mature yet?? Noticed that they did mating dance today... got this be a signal that they are going to mate soon?? does the female look receptive to the mating dance???? opinions needed!!
All inputs are greatly appreciated!

Definitely the male is interested but whether or not the mating is going to be successful is unknown.
At this point I would watch the rays carefully for aggression. The male may become very aggressive and injure or kill the female . Have also seen the female chasing and biting male as well.
Personally would separate them and allow them (esp female) to be bigger if possible.
Nice leoleopearl!

Nice leoleopearl!
thanks for your input bro~ this is the first time witness the male biting the female bcos usually.. the female is the more aggressive bugger. After the chasing, i didn't notice any bite mark at all... could it meant that the male is a gentle biter?? the female is around 17inches now.. the male is only 14... and i dun have space to seperate them~

i think the female is at the minimum age of maturity. they may mate, but may not be successful as the female is still very young ...

my pdr male has mated my 17" female henlei (ard 2yrs+), but i dun think she pregnant - also same case i guess...

Haha, get ready for the pups in 128 days time. 14 for male and 17 for female is definitely a ready couple to mate. Take care of the water and the going to be pregnant female should be fine. Good luck.

Regards
