Perhaps u can post a pic if the orange shrimp?
From what I understand, I'm not sure if you are referring to this, there is an orange shrimp of the cardinal species, that can breed in brackish water only. It's a bee shrimp and won't cross breed with cherries. You can try to google orange shrimp and see if that's the shrimp you are referring to. You can also confirm with the LFS before you buy. |

Snowball, blue pearl, Yellow ,Fire Red ,Orange ,Neon green ,Black ,Brown ,Cherry are the same species under Neocardinal. just that they came from wild cherries, and selective breeding until they gets the colour now.

Hmmm, from what I know in the past, orange shrimp don't breed in freshwater, unlike the others.
But I might be wrong as I am new to shrimps. (: |

Hi, orange shrimp will not interbreed with yellow shrimp.
Orange shrimp is from the genus Caridina, its scientific name is caridina propinqua. Furthermore, the eggs of orange shrimp hatch into zoea that require brackish water tofull-strength saltwater to survive. On the other hand, yellow shrimp is from the genus Neocaridina, its scientific name is neocaridina geteropoda. The eggs of yellow shrimp hatch into fully-developed shrimplets that will surive in freshwater. Hence, these differences mean that they will not interbreed. |
