Before u put shrimps, please check ph and water parameter. Gex have a tendency to lower ph too much or cause ph hike. Will take awhile before stablizing.
Ur tank is fine, too much plant or deco and u wont be focusing on ur shrimps. However at this junction without chiller, not advice for crs. Sakura/fire red/cherry/snowball would be good. 1ft with no chiller, chances are that temperature will be around 27-30. Can throw in some pellets to raise ammonia, or personal preferrance, nitrogenous bacteria + some BB power to speed the cycling process. Worked fine for all my fish/shrimp tanks at home. But there are many brands of nitrogenous bacteria u can try. Enjoy!!! |

Nice one. I don't find it plain, just nice for shrimp tank. If not it'll be hard to see ur shrimps. I would suggest maybe more soil? Urs look kinda little, 3cm only?

Test strips reading all not accurate one.... I tested on alot of brands and type all fail... Better invest in individual kinda water test kits.

If everything is new, then longer cycling is advisable as I find it took me quite awhile to get good water quality; I think at least 1 week would be good.
Anyway, nice setup, simple is also my preference. |

It looks like a 'tall' tank. Not those typical small 1ft tank is it? What is the water volume?
Plain tank has it's advantage, easier to see your shrimps. Keeping things simple can be good. HOF may not be ideal, as the amount of filter media is really limited. Since it's partitioined tank and each side has it's own different water perimeter, you might as well consider different types of shrimps? Anyway, since you mentioned having read thru forums, you shd have noticed, soil caused lower pH usually, and sakura (cherry) suits higher pH. So, you may want to reconsider. Test strips wise, I had bought 5-in-1 API test strips. I just find that the reading is too, 'wide' thus yes, like some shared, use individual tester. There are a few brands, I don't know which is good. Am using Sera. |
