Need Help!!
Our arrowana started losing appetite a while ago. Recently, bubble like 'pimples' started growing on the face. After reading a few forums, it seems there was an issue with the water and aeration. So we changed the water and added more air as well as more coarse salt. New bubbles did not surface and some of the existing ones did disappear.. but not all.
Today, we notice that the scales seem to protrude slightly. Temperature all the while now is 28 deg. pH is around 6.8 to 6.9. We are at a lost as to what to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! |

aro tank size is abt 4 X 2.5 feet. Filtration is Jebo bio-chem filter. We change the water every week, about 1/3 of water each time. The last check for ammonia is about a couple of weeks ago. At that time it was normal. Will check that again.
I read some forums which advise increasing the temp of water to 30 deg.. would that help? |

Your tank filtration is insufficient.

Protruding scales might be a sign of dropsy. Maybe u can try to do daily water change of 50% for 4-5 days straight using aged water. Can add some yellow powder after water change n raise the temp higher to 30-33 degree celsius, add 0.3% salt for e.g, 300g of salt for 100 litres of water n also some black water extract.
Aeration also must increase coz DO will decrease when temp rises. Hope it helps. |

Carbon can be good when new. But when old becomes dangerous. Throw away the carbon bag. Do not replace the carbon bag during treatment of your fish. |

We have changed the water, temp and added aeration for about 2 weeks. But our aro din seem to recover. =( And today it seems to have less interest in the surrounding.
What should we do? |

your aro's condition is brought about by bad water. and the only solution for bad water is filtration + wc. |
