Hi Bro/Sis,
Please assist on my peacock bass as i currently have 2 Kelberi Bahia Gold & 2 Orinocensis Rio Meta, all around 6-8" in my 6x2.5x2.5 tank with a 5feet sump. Just spotted today that four of them have white spot around they body which i think occur should be more then 3days already, rush down to get aquarium salt and baxter men blue medicine & follow dose accordingly and salt added, temperature 27.9degree. I know it maybe due to the cold weather, issit due to the recently cold weather? Please advise on if i still have a add a heater ? And please advise on which reliable heater for a 6x2.5x2.5 sump tank. Peacock bass comm together with 1Endi, 2Lap, 3Talking Catfish, 1IT & 1Common Pleco, the rest of the fishes seem fine. Thanks all for your kind assistance. |

Sometimes white spots could be due to temperature fluctuations, amongst other factors.
What you're doing is right with salt but it would be best to add a heater to prevent the temperature from fluctuating. Also try to increase WC frequency. All the best |

Actually salt will not cure but prevent. Heat is the main source that kill white spot. It will fasten the white spot to fall off from fish body and subsequently kill it as white spot can't survive in high temp. Salt is to make it not condusive environment to thrive.
As long as the fish is not stressful and not much fluctuation of water temp with good water quality, white spot will not occur. PB is very prone to white spot btw. |

So just tweak it to get the desired temperature. Also remember to have a thermometer to allow you to cross check the tank's temp with relation to the preset heater's temp. |
