I'll install a UVc wif timer on 24/7 for a week in the main tank, it'll reduce the amount of free floating BBs (Bacteria) do not worry, The death bacteria will eventually assimilate back into the system de. This'll eventually reduce the frequency (tail bitting) Subsequently, need to time the duration (UVc) adding salt/medi will oso help but may effect your bio-filtration (nitrogen cycle) Be prepare to do regular WC when upset (nitrogen cycle)

Some think tail chasing is a behaviourial problem, others due to water quality. Just like a dog chasing it's own tail. This is a behaviourial problem and should be stopped which can be. Not sure about a fish. Btw what the fish is that?
