Will Aros Starve to death?

I bought a pair of 8 inch silver aros. They are in a 75 gallon tank.
The water condition is ok, temperature is 82 F.
I have dark the room with the tank for 2 days, and turn off aquarium light for3 days, in order to let them fit in.
But, still, they have not eat for about 2 weeks now. I really don't know what I can do to save them, and when ever I present in front of tank, they gone crazy, bump around tank, and hide behind filter outlet.....

Food I tried: Crickets, Pellets, Dried Krill.
Tankmate of Aros: one 4 inch Catfish (always hide under a decor, never come out)

I know this forum has a lot of aro experts, seek for help.

IMO, you should give them natural light source like room light or sun light from window so your present near to the tank would not be a sudden surprises which may shock them.

i think aros prefer live food compared to SWs??

I do, after 2 days, I open the blind of window and glass door, natural light can directly reach the tank. I know I should light the environment first, so arowanas can see me coming first, so, they will not be surprised.
But, that's about 12 days ago, they still scared of my approach.

and worst, because of not eating, they are thin like knifes know.....

The crickets are live. I really think 1st, I need someone help me let my aros be brave and not scared of me. each time, I try to feed them, they will be scared, and stay at corner of filter outlet for at least 2 hours.

Next thing to do is, the water. Maybe you should add some anti stress conditional into the water to help reduce the stress of your fishes. Conditional like APi stress coat+, black water, aquarium salt and etc should help.

last time when i had a skittish aro, i added schooling fishes like tin foiled barbs.

Good thing about them is they make the aro feel like they are in a group, and not so skittish.

Second thing about having them is that they help the aros to eat as well. when my aro saw my TFBs eating, it followed them as well, ending the 1 month fasting battle it had with me.

You can try. but i am just sharing my experience

Agreed with bro leezhengxi, Aro needs tankmates, with the tankmates swimming around, they will be easy to get use to the environment, TFB, clown loach, FF, tigers, etc.. do get some.
