Sick Arowana

Hi guys, so it's been almost a month since my arowana eyes turned cloudy (looks yellow/purplish to me) and two weeks since it has eaten.

It was my late dad's fish so i really have no idea how to care for it properly and I'm also not sure what breed of arowana it is.

For 4 months I've only been changing the water every week (add salt and anti chlorine) and previously it had one side cloudy eye and i added more salt and it recovered.

Now both eyes are yellow/purple cloudy and it doesn't want to eat at all.
I usually feed it mealworms and it'll eat about 5-8 a day.
Tried giving frozen prawns it also don't want.

Today I come home and one of the back scales dropped (maybe it jumped and hit the light) and the left eye got a bit of blood, plus the skin near the mouth seems to be flaking.

Please help me on what I should do :-(

Download a clip on your aro would be very useful.

Try adding a heater 30 degree and try to change water daily 10-20% age water or treated water. This will speed up the recovery.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies.

The first video is taken yesterday, after what i said in my first post.

1st Video

Today i switched on the light to the tank and i observed it for a while before going to do my own stuff, suddenly i heard a loud splashing noise and when i came out i saw the arowana thrashing around wildly in the tank mcm kena possessed.

Lasted about 5 sec or so but it continued to swim rather aggressively.

The next two videos are right after today's incident.

As you can see the top of its head has some abrasions (possibly due to it hitting the tank top.)

Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm not an expert. But it's most likely water issues.

You might want to provide more specifications of the tank so the experienced keepers can give a better advice.

Example:
Tank size
Type of filter
Temperature of water
Type of anti chlorine used and dosage amount
How much salt do you add? Etc

And to add on, it will be good if you can take a PH reading of your water. I'm suspecting that it might be a PH issue.

The eyes are caused by rubbing/hitting against dirty tank walls. Not a major issue. Will recover with 3 weeks but you'll need to make it a habit to wipe clean the tank walls.

the main concern is why is it constantly hitting/dashing around in the first place ?
water no good?
sick?
jittery?
like what many pointed out, try to find out more about your water conditions.
That will solve the root of your problem.

The water looks cloudy. Water parameter not good. Check your water. I feel its the cause.

Monitor the water parameters in its tank.

perform daily wc @20%, add salt and heater.

For the time being reduce feeding till the aro is more stabilised.
