Epsom salt is meant to induce passing of motion and clearing indigestion in the fish. I am currently adding E.salt to my fish, which is having a bloated stomach for many months. Don't think it's a good idea to force your healthy aro to clear its intestine and stomach if it has no porblem.

Chemical composition of the 2 salts are different:
Aquarium salt is sodium chloride
Epsom salt is magnesium sulphate (think so).

Anyway, you should be adding aquarium salt after water changes and not epsom salt.

Personally I don't like the idea of taking laxative if I have no constipation. I am not sure if it is useful to do that

where are these epson salt available?
this salt are used by bodybuilders to dehrydate their body prior to competition, flushing out the water from the body and appear to be leaner. The usage is soaking in a bathtub with water dabbled with epson salt but only at 15mins or else will risk severe hydration to the body.

Epson salt is some times added into a planted tank to provide traces of magnesium. It should be safe in relatively small amount. however as for the medical treatment.. dont know leh.. must let expert comment liao..

The instruction on the box says that it could also be used as fertilizer.
