Question Interesting PP Bombing For Diseases - Anyone tried it?

Hi All, I have 2 Aros that have some disease the I cannot get rid of & a bro recommended me PP Bombing. It is actually Potassium Permanganate Treatment, which is supposed to be effective, yet potent (is overdosed).

Read about it here: http://www.petprovision.com/Articles/PPBombing.html

I'm eager to try it but before I do, I would like to hear some views from brothers who have tried it and also bros who may think it is too risky to try.

Cheers!

Hi Bro,

I did tried for 2 times already.
So far, no sign of overdose.
Too early to comment, successful or not-hole on the head desease

Onservation:
1) Fish tend to stress
2) A very aeration is a must
3) Avoid PP B for crowded tank/mass tank
4) Change water prior to PP B

what is the disease? If it's an external disease you might want to try pp scrub.

I'm now treating my 15" Aro for white spots. My house temp. is always around 29 to 31 degrees, so when I use white spot medication, it didn't seem to help cos' I did not use heater.

Yesterday, I started anther dose of treatment & this time I put in a heater and set it to 32 degrees but water temperature in the tank is now around 34 degrees (although heater is set at 32).

The white spots seems to be recovering better as compared to previous treatment. This time I intend to leave heater at 32 degrees & prolong treatment for up to 14 days and will update bros on the outcome.

A LFS owner told me that Aros can take up to 36 degrees with medication. Any comments from bros?

Potassium permanganate is an oxidizing agent. As an oxidizer, it is able to chemically "burn up" organic material. This includes undesirable organic matter such as bacteria, parasites, and fungus, as well as desirable material such as mucus and gill tissue. Because the chemical cannot distinguish between desirable and undesirable organic matter, it is up to the individual to use the chemical in a manner that results in maximum benefit and minimum harm to treated fish.

In PP bombing, it will 'burn' the gill tissues which will cause more harm. As for PP scrub, this apply to specific area of treatment required, which is safer to administrate. PP scrub is quite effective treatment for external parasite attack. Yes, you are right... a direct scrub to the effected area. Very effective for ulcer treatment too.

Cheers!

Thanks Edwin for your reply. So have to use transmore to make Aro drousy, take Aro out of tank & then rub PP on affected area. How to dilute the PP, how diluted must it be.

Have you personally tried it on your Aro?

Cheers!
