Really feel the pain of your loss but things happen when you least expect it. You might want to do water change in the morning when you wake up or before going to sleep. I think there won't be any visitors coming during these time slots. Not sure how you conduct water changes. I am using the hose method and connect it straight to the tap. Do not insert the hose right to the bottom of the tank. Insert the hose maybe 1/4 from the top of your tank. In this way, water will stop flowing once it reaches out beyond the opening of the hose. It will be safe even you forgot to remove the hose. Hope this helps. |

Hi Khoo,
thks for the pointer. Ironically the visitor came early in the morning. My water-change methods quite similar to yours. Had an industrial drum siphon to withdraw out the water. The length of the pipe used to be shorter and leaves about 5 inches of water before it stops sucking out the water. That pipe was installed permanently in another tank so bought a new one. Here lies the problem, new siphon pipe touches the bottom of tank....erghhhh .. |

I will pray for his survisor. Don't worry, i have similar encounter under hot tanning sun. My aro has recovered but one side badly chow ta. Lot of aeration is needed. You should have taken water from another tank. But anyway, let's pray for his speedy recovery. Hope that visitor is not my Nephew. Regards |

I got a shock when i read about your recent incident. As I was reading from the beginning, I was keeping my fingers cross that the aro was alright in the end. I am sadden and share the anger and sorrow with you. Hope that you could take things as it was and move on to be a even better man. Look at things optimistically. Let's take it as the worst was over and there will be many good things to come. I've instantly improvised a draining pipe for you (see pic). This way you could still have your pipe fixed at the bottom, clearing the tank bottom debris and also will auto cut off the draining once the water level reach the T-joint. sorry bro coz at this moment, think that's the best thing i could do. Take good care of your other aros ya. Till today I've not visited your house. Will be extra careful with the timing and must make sure you are not doing water change. Take care bro. HE will always be with you. Cheers Archie Last edited by archie2000; 02-01-2007 at 01:38 AM. |
